• Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Empty water bottles
  • Balloons
  • Funnels
  • Measuring spoon

  1. Start by putting the funnel into the balloon. Add about 4 teaspoons of baking soda into the balloon. You can add a little more for a bigger effect!
  2. Next, use a funnel to pour about 1/3 cup of vinegar into your bottle.
  3. Then, place the opening of the balloon around the opening of the bottle. Try not to let any baking soda into the bottle as you do this.
  4. Finally, when you are ready for some magic, lift the balloon to allow the baking soda to fall into the bottle.

As soon as the baking soda hits the vinegar, a chemical reaction takes place that produces carbon dioxide. This gas is what inflates the balloon!
